These training programs offer from 4 hours to 60 hours of approved gambling specific clinical training (CEU’s have been awarded to gambling counselors, attorneys- CLE’s, psychiatrists- CME’s, psychologists, social workers, LMFT’s, addiction and mental health counselors as well as. The 2021 National Conference on Gambling Addiction and Responsible Gambling theme will recognize the pervasive effects of the pandemic. Its theme is ‘Embracing Change Together’ and all the conference activities will occur online. The pandemic has also caused changes in how people can seek and receive help, and ways that responsible gambling.

Problem Gambling and the Military

Description: Rates of problem gambling are significantly higher among veterans, military recruits and those currently in the military compared with rates in the general population. Research suggests that Military personnel are at risk of experiencing negative consequences as a result of gambling related issues such as stress from financial debts, which may have a negative effect on military readiness. Furthermore, military and veteran populations are more prone to substance abuse, mental health problems and suicide, all of which are highly co-morbid with problem gambling.

This webinar will focus on research and policy developments over the past decade, including the recent NCPG victory requiring gambling disorder screening questions to be included in periodic health assessments for active duty soldiers conducted by the Department of Defense. NCPG Executive Director Keith Whyte will review the latest drafts of our legislation and discuss how members can advocate at local and national levels.

How to Handle Sports Betting Expansion

Introduction to the International Certified Gambling Counselor Certification Process

Description: The International Certified Gambling Counselor (ICGC) program was developed to promote a competency-based certification program for professionals treating problem and pathological gamblers and their families. There are two levels of certification, ICGC-I and ICGC-II. A third designation, BACC, denotes ICGC-II counselors who have acquired sufficient training, clinical experience, and supervision skills and are approved to provide supervision to ICGC applicants.
