The Masked Singer is making a comeback for Christmas, with even more mystery celebrities in bizarre fancy dress.

The costumes for season 2 of the talent competition have been revealed, and a new judge is going to be joining The Masked Singer.

BAFTA award-winning comedian Mo Gilligan will be replacing Ken Jeong in the new series, alongside panelists Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross and Rita Ora.

Comedian Joel Dommett is also going to be returning as the host of The Masked Singer UK.

Here’s what you need to know about The Masked Singer season 2.

How can I watch The Masked Singer season 2?

The Masked Singer will return to ITV on Boxing Day at 7pm.

Filming for the show began in September, with the new cast of disguised VIPs performing in front of a socially-distanced live audience.

The singing competition is described as a “surreal and surprising guessing game that will see 12 famous faces compete to pull off the best performance”.

Who are the characters on The Masked Singer series 2?

The full line-up for series two is even more bizarre than the first – with one character just a blob of pink and purple mess…called Blob.

Sausage is ‘all wrapped up in a newspaper BUT will Sausage be the talk of the town?’

Dragon is described as a ‘cutie’, but ‘when they open their mouth to sing, can they bring the fire?’

Seahorse is described as a ‘beautiful marine creature who will be hoping their singing goes swimmingly’.

Viking is ‘armed with a sword and wearing a helmet and clearly taking this battle seriously!’

The Blob is described as having ‘many eyes’, but ‘will all eyes and ears be on Blob?!’

Harlequin is described as being either a ‘a joker in the pack or a stunning singer’.

Swan ‘will be confidently swanning into town but when swan sings will they ruffle feathers?’

Bush Baby is an ‘adorable looking cheeky fluffy fella but will the voice match the cute appearance?’

Badger ‘steps out of the sett but will this badger stand out from the crowd’.

The ‘rockin’ Robin is described as ‘hoping to deliver tweet harmonies and show that he’s not just for Christmas but planning to go the distance.’

Grandfather clock is described as the ‘original TikTok’ and ‘will be making every second on stage count.’

Season

Last year, Girls Aloud’s Nicola Roberts was crowned The Masked Singer UK winner, after she was finally unmasked as Queen Bee – but what will the upcoming season reveal? Make sure to watch on Boxing Day to find out.

It’s the show where performers don extravagant costumes that hide their identity and take to the stage to perform a song – The Masked Singeris back on ITV.

The unusual but rather entertaining show sees judges Rita Ora, Jonathan Ross, Davina McCall and Mo Gilligan trying to guess who could be behind the mask.

One singer is unmasked at the end of each episode, after the audience and judges have decided who to save and see through to the next round.

Here’s who the masked contestants are, who the judges think they could be, and in particular what we know about Sausage.

What do we know about Sausage and what clues are there?

Sausage had one of the more amusing costumes, which also features some chips wrapped in a paper cone with writing on it.

In the introduction clip, the performer who has a female-sounding voice is seen on a beach, which could be Blackpool – the coastal reference made one of the judges think it could be a chef.

The video also features fairground rides and a beach food hut called “Billie’s Burgers” which lists items on the menu including a “Red Herring”.

A note at the end of the food menu provides another clue which said: “Making the best burgers because we want to.”

In the clip, Sausage said: “The thing about sausages is they’re a combination of a little bit of everything and I guess you could say about me.”

They add that though they may look “a bit of a tomboy” they really are “a girly girl”.

“I love a bit of glam but that doesn’t mean I can’t have fun and to be honest I’m a bit of a silly sausage. I just want to have a laugh,” the masked singer added.

Sausage sang Skin by Rag’n’Bone Man, giving a powerful vocal performance leading the judges to believe she is likely to be a professional singer.

Her final clue after the song was that her performances were “something of a balancing act”.

Who do the judges think Sausage could be?

The judges were all impressed with Sausage’s voice, but they were pretty unsure as to who the singer behind the mask was.

McCall guessed it could be Billie Piper who both acts and sings, partly from the clue of Billie’s Cafe in the introduction video.

Milligan guessed the singer could be Maya Jama.

Ora ran through a number of guesses which were all singers, including Ella Henderson and Stacey Solomon. She thought whoever was behind the sausage mask was “down for a laugh” and quite young.

Ora also suggested it could be Meghan Trainor, referencing “All About That Plaice” which was also on the chip shop menu in the video, which may be a play on Trainor’s song All About That Bass.

Ross gave a more jokey answer, guessing the singer was Edwina Curry, based on the idea of chips and curry sauce.

Other suggestions from fans on social media include Amanda Holden and Sheridan Smith.

Who has been unmasked so far?

Grandfather Clock: Glen Hoddle

Footballer Glenn Hoddle was unmasked during the ITV programme on Saturday evening after being disguised as Grandfather Clock.

The former Spurs and England midfielder was in the last two alongside Viking, who escaped having their identity revealed.

Hoddle dropped a number of hints about his identity, including a reference to the late Argentine player Diego Maradona’s infamous “hand of God” goal against England.

Hoddle was on the pitch at the time of the controversial goal during the 1986 World Cup quarter-final.

Who did the judges think it was?

Ross thought goalkeeper Peter Shilton was hiding behind the costume, Gilligan guessed it was Lee Dixon, McCall opted for David Seaman and Ora went for Ian Wright.

Alien: Sophie Ellis-Bextor

Singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor was unmasked at the end of the first show, telling the judges: “You’ve crushed my mascot dreams”.

The clues were “a crime scene”, referring to her hit song “Murder of the Dancefloor”.

Other clues were “an epic battle”, as she once appeared in an episode of Game of Thrones, and a wedding dress as she wore a similar dress in the music video for “Get Over You”.

None of the judges guessed her identity though, with some suggesting she could be host Joel Dommett’s wife Hannah Cooper.

Seahorse: Mel B

In the second episode, former Spice Girls star Mel B was revealed behind the Seahorse mask.

Her clues were about being her being famous in the 1990s, referencing her role as part of the hugely popular girl band, and having a northern accent, as she is from Leeds in Yorkshire.

The other clue was that she once stole toilet paper from a famous person’s house.

One of the judges, Gilligan, correctly guessed she was Mel B.

Swan: Martine McCutcheon

In the third show, actress and singer Martine McCutcheon was revealed to be Swan.

Swan had teased that she had served a Prime Minister and had deals with more than one president of the USA.

This referred to her role as secretary to Hugh Grant’s PM in Love, Actually, in which Billy Bob Thornton stars as the American President. She also revealed she sat next to Donald Trump at Liza Minelli and David Guest’s wedding.
